"The FDA is telling you this is a very serious and dangerous drug," says Celebrex's senior FDA official. "It is a prescription drug and it's not approved for the treatment of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis."

Bresch says he's not sure what type of cancer he's going to have, and he says he'll likely be able to get cancer insurance, and he's not sure about the kinds of drugs that can help with the pain.
He also says that his cancer insurance has covered Celebrex for a long time.
"I don't know what the effect is yet," he says. "I can't say I haven't tried it."
But if Celebrex is an effective treatment for arthritis, it could reduce the risk of serious problems in other people, says Dr. John R. D. Lehmiller of the Cleveland Clinic, who was not involved in the Celebrex study.
But the FDA isn't talking about Celebrex without talking about the risks associated with Vioxx.
